Our Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers
Janus ("Janus," "we," "us") provides a customer relationship management platform for trades businesses (the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect and why, across two different groups of people:
Business customers — the trades businesses (and their staff) who sign up for and run Janus.
Leads and customers of those businesses — the homeowners and property owners who fill out an intake form, call, or text a business using Janus, whose information a business customer collects and manages inside their own Janus account.
If you're a lead or customer of a business that uses Janus, that business is the one you're doing business with — Janus is the software they use to manage that relationship. Questions about a specific job, quote, or appointment should go to the business directly; questions about how Janus itself handles data can come to us at the contact below.
Information we collect
From business customers, when you sign up and use Janus:
Account information: name, email, business name, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your password in plain text).
Billing information: Janus does not collect or store your card number. Card entry happens on Stripe's own secure pages; we retain only a Stripe customer reference and the card's last four digits, so we can identify which card is on file in emails and receipts.
Business details you provide: logo, brand color, services offered, team member accounts, and similar setup information.
Usage data: how you use the product, so we can operate and improve it (pages visited within the app, actions taken, timestamps).
From leads and customers your business manages in Janus:
Contact information submitted through your branded intake form or entered manually by your team: name, email, phone number, property address, service interest, and project details.
Communication consent: whether a lead agreed to receive text messages, captured at the point of submission and never assumed.
Attribution data: the source, campaign, and medium that brought a visitor to your intake page (for example, a Google ad or a referral link), captured automatically so you can see which marketing is working.
Appointment, job, and revenue records your team creates as a lead moves through your pipeline.
Automatically, from anyone visiting a Janus-powered page:
Standard technical data (IP address, browser type, device type) and a short-lived attribution cookie that remembers where a visitor came from for up to 90 days, so a lead gets credited to the right marketing source even if they don't convert on their first visit.
We do not collect more than we need to run the Service, and we do not collect sensitive categories of information (health, financial account numbers, government ID numbers) unless a business customer chooses to enter it themselves in a free-text field — which we'd recommend against.
How we use this information
To operate the Service: create and maintain accounts, process payments, deliver the CRM and reporting features described on this site.
To route and score leads for a business customer's own use — this processing happens on a business's behalf, for their pipeline, not for Janus's own purposes.
To send transactional communications: receipts, trial reminders, payment-failure notices, and product updates related to your account. We do not send marketing email to business customers' leads on our own initiative — text and email communications to a lead are sent by the business customer, using their own account, to people who consented to hear from that business.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues.
To improve the Service, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with affiliates, agency partners, advertising networks, or any other third party for their own marketing.
We do not share lead or customer data across business customers: information a homeowner submits to one trades business is never visible to, or usable by, another business on Janus.
Agency partners. A marketing agency can either refer a business to Janus or manage a business customer's account on that business's behalf. A referring agency receives only referral-credit records — which business signed up and converted — and never homeowner or lead information. A managing agency acts as that business's agent, with the same access to that business's account as the business's own staff, and is bound by the same restrictions in this policy; it may not use the data for its own marketing or for any purpose other than operating that client's account.
Text-message program disclosures
By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you agree to receive text messages from the business you contacted through Janus, including appointment confirmations and reminders, scheduling changes and cancellations, missed-call follow-ups, and review requests. Message frequency varies based on your activity and appointments. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or service.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in information with any third party for their own purposes, and we do not use them for any purpose other than sending the messages the lead agreed to receive from the business they contacted. The only recipients of this information are the service providers listed below under "Who we share information with," who process it solely to deliver those messages on the business's behalf.
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or contact the business directly. Opt-outs are honored immediately.
Payment processing
All payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. When you enter a card, that information goes directly to Stripe — it never touches Janus's own servers. Stripe's use of your information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
Who we share information with
Service providers who help us run Janus — Stripe for payment processing, and Twilio for text-message delivery. Each may use the data only to provide that service to Janus and may not use it for its own purposes. If we add another provider (for example, an email-delivery service), we will name it here before it goes live.
Legal requirements — if required to by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Janus, our customers, or the public.
A business sale or transfer — if Janus is acquired or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, under the same protections described in this policy unless you're notified otherwise.
We do not share personal information with advertisers, or use it to build profiles for advertising purposes.
We keep account and lead/customer data for as long as an account is active. If a business customer cancels, their data is retained for a period to allow reactivation or export, then deleted — see the billing policy for the exact timeline tied to cancellation. A business customer or an individual lead can request deletion of specific records at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain uses of it. If you're a lead or customer of a Janus business customer, the fastest path is usually to contact that business directly, since they control your record day to day — but you can also reach us at the contact below and we'll route the request appropriately.
Children's privacy
Janus is a business tool and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect information from, children under 13.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect the information in Janus, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we treat this as a standing responsibility, not a one-time checkbox.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify active business customers directly.
